Foundation Stage 2

We have had such a fun, busy day. We have decorated biscuits, made reindeer dust and our very own door hangers for Christmas Eve. We even had a video call with Father Christmas and we sang for him. Nine more sleeps to go . . .
Well done reception today's dress rehearsal was wonderful.
The Jolly Christmas post office has official opened. The children have been busy writing letters to Father Christmas and making cards for family and friends. At the post office they have been buying special limited edition Christmas stamps and envelopes. This is a very festive post office too, as in the corner by the fire the elves have been hard at work making toys for all the children.
We have enjoyed using some new equipment at playtime. We practised hula hooping, skipping, walking on stilts and playing football together.
We have been learning about the gingerbread man this week and we had great fun decorating our own gingerbread man. Enjoy this week's homework sharing the story together.
We have been learning all about Diwali this week. We have made diva lamps, decorated Diwali cards, designed our own Mehnedi prints and made some beautiful Rangoli prints out of chalk in our outdoor area.
We have been learning about Guy Fawkes this week. We have learnt all about the houses of Parliament and built our own version of them. We then mixed our own paints to create fireworks.
We were thrilled to have a Video chat with author Anne Booth this week. We showed her the beautiful flower crowns we had made and asked her lots of questions about her book 'Bloom.' We were so inspired by her virtual visit that we decided we would write to others to tell them why they Bloom.
We have been learning about Mary Seacole today for Black History Month, we enjoyed watching the BBC Bitesize video about her life. We shared our cut and stick activity with the teachers and learnt how. . .  "She made magic medicine with her mum. She went on a boat using her own money and wrote a book about her life."
This week we have been reading Owl Babies, mother owl left three eggs in her nest. We have been making habitats for our woodland friends. Look out for our recount next week.
We have visited the ICT Suite today and the children have enjoyed exploring the 'Busy things website.' We have learnt how to use the hardware to explore the software.
The children have really enjoyed looking at our exciting new Autumnal tray. We talked about the different animals in the tray and some of the wonderful treasures Autumn produces like conkers and acorns. The children are looking forward to exploring the tray this week.
What a wonderful week we have had in FS2, we have loved exploring our outdoor classroom and enjoyed spending time in our beautiful home corner. Lookout for Big Talk next week. . .
