Y2 SPRING 2022

Welcome back and happy

2022 to you all.

We have some new staff working with us this term.
You will remember Miss Ainsworth from last term. She is our trainee teacher and will be with us until February Half- Term. Ms Evans (not our Head teacher!) will be teaching on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and Ms Skeldon is our teaching assistant. Welcome ladies.
P.E.
We have loved making a start on our new gymnastics unit. We have made animals by working together and combining our bodies. Can you tell what animals we have created?
SCIENCE
In our MATERIALS topic we have been  investigating which cloth is the most absorbent for mopping up spilled milk from Miss Ainsworth's cat. Which cloth do you think held the most water?
The children counted the drops of water dropped from a pipette to see which material could hold the most without seeping through.
ENGLISH
We have been reading John Patrick Norman McHennessey by John Burningham and Dear Teacher by Amy Husband as part of our letter writing focus ths term. We have loved reading the excuses for not coming to school from Michael and John, the main charcters.
What excuse would you make for not being able to attend school?
Would a crocodile rip your trousers? Would you be too busy on Her Majesty's Service , parachuting across the Alps or defending treasure from pirates?
We have had fun making up excuses using BUT, SO, IF, BECAUSE, WHEN, AND conjunctions to extend our sentences.

To help us with our ideas for excuses we have researched the seven wonders of the world. We worked in groups and presented our poster work to the class.
