FS2 Home School Learning

Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties we are unable to provide 'Snack Time' audio files at the moment. We are looking for a way to try to resolve this.

Good Morning FS2

Today is Monday 30th March

Thank you Mr Bettridge for creating a new class page for us, there was a lot to scroll through! We now have a story for ‘snack time’ as well. I hope you enjoy listening to it!

I had a lovely weekend I hope you did too! I have enjoyed spending time in the garden, Moggy is very happy to have strokes whenever she likes! Looking out my window this morning…

‘I can see my cat in the garden, she likes to look at the birds and run in the bushes.’

Can you write a sentence or two about what you can see out of your window? I have uploaded a picture of Moggy in my garden for you to see on Tapestry :o)

Have a lovely day, Mrs Leyland xx

Dear parents, if, when attempting to stream your child's latest snack time audio file, you are faced with a never ending circle that doesn't stop and your file does not begin to play, please follow these instructions:

1. Click on the file you wish to play
2. Wait for it to begin loading
3. Then click on the download icon (arrow pointing down in the top right hand corner)
4. Then click open and the file will miraculously start to work.

Hope this helps.

Good Morning Boys and Girls! Happy Monday 6th July.

Another busy week of fun ahead! I have filled your folder ‘My Documents’ on Tapestry for this week’s home learning. Please remember if you need any printing I send everything over to the school office on Monday morning. I am always thinking of fun things that the children will enjoy and continue to use the weekends to plan and prepare for the week ahead so unfortunately I cannot send the work any earlier. Thank you for your consideration.

This and next week in school the children will be very busy! We are learning about Brazil and thinking about going up to Year 1 :o)

I have included all of the activities for you to explore and enjoy as a free choice, I have also made suggestions on which day to enjoy them! Please remember the timetable is there to support you and your child please make it work for you!

I have uploaded a final Phase 4 phonics planner- don’t worry if you are still working through last weeks. Continue to dip in and out and using Alphablocks/YouTube or your wallets on some days please don’t feel rushed :o)

For today’s Literacy can you write about the weekend? Mr Leyland and I had a lovely BBQ on Saturday, we had to put the umbrella up just in case it rained!

Enjoy reading your PowerPoint story today and talking and sharing thoughts. It’s about a caterpillar called Cody, who isn’t too sure about turning into a butterfly. Use this morning to support your child’s understanding of how change can be a little worrying and that it’s normal to feel that way. Change can be very exciting and lovely! Today is for talking about the caterpillars experience rather than transition in school- tomorrows circle time will give you and your child the time to talk more about Year 1 :o)

Maths this week is ‘The Dinosaur That Pooped A Planet! This isn’t a story I have read but we love to read Tyrannosaurs Drip in school!  Can you help Danny to pack a healthy lunchbox? He will need a good lunch if he’s heading off to space and a super rocket design! Remember to count back from 20 before BLAST OFF!

I hope you are all still enjoying your stories and Bug club- remember to read every day :o)

Have a lovely Monday children, from Mrs Leyland x

Apologies there has been a technical glitch!

Good Morning Lovely Reception!

Well here we are, the final week of Summer Term 3B and you should be very proud!

I have planned a very fun week ahead I hope you enjoy the timetable!

I have created 4 new folders for this week. As always I have sent a bundle to the school office please call ahead for safe collection- there are many resources for this week and the holidays, I have sent all of the learning timetabled but not all the ‘Summer Fun’ resources. Please email the office FAO Mrs Leyland if you have any additional printing requests :o)

This week, I have timetabled Literacy and Maths learning for the morning and all Topic activities in the afternoon. Topic this week is about Celebrations, Summer and Transition, please enjoy any of the activities from the folders that your child will enjoy!

I hope last week’s stories and resources were helpful to start talking about September. Continue to share thoughts and ideas about Year 1, there is a lovely book about starting school in the new ‘Transition’ folder- it can be adapted for starting a New Year Class and I’ve included some Pirate themed activities to tie in with the story. Remember to share some talking time while your child enjoys the activities, its lovely to do the same activity alongside :o)

Happy Monday 13th July!

This morning share some talking time about the week ahead and the folders on Tapestry. Can you write News today about your weekend? What did you get up to? Remember to make your sentences super with your…

Capital Letters, full stop, finger spaces and tricky words

Enjoy revisiting your Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds this morning, remember to have a look at your phonics folders if there are any activities your child is finding tricky, there are many resources in here to support you :o)

Our Maths learning today is a lot of fun it will really get you thinking about your patterns! It’s based around the book ‘How Many Legs’. Guess My Rule- have a look at what makes the group of animals special…I’m sure the horse has hooves we just can’t see them! ;o) Enjoy coming up with your own patterns that think about the number of legs rather than the animal!

Buttons the Bear has written us a letter inviting us to a very special lunch! Have fun this afternoon making celebration bunting and party hats ready for the picnic this Friday. We love to have a Teddy Bears Picnic in the last week of term in Reception, the weather is hopefully very nice so if you have some outside space, enjoy this week’s literacy learning getting ready for a special celebration lunch with your cuddly friends!

Have a lovely Monday boys and girls.

From Mrs Leyland

Hello boys and girls :o)

I hope you are still enjoying your activities- I have had some lovely singing videos on Tapestry! I’m so pleased to see our home teachers exploring the expressive arts!

Today is Tuesday 31st March.

The clocks have sprung forward and we can enjoy the sunshine for a little longer… as we have some extra time, have fun thinking of things you could do in 1 minute.

Grown- ups can you find a timer on your phone/tablet/computer and explore what 60 seconds of time feels like…maybe you have a clock with a second hand to watch tick around?

What you can do in 1 minute?

How many times can you walk around the garden? How many ‘hellos’ can you say? How many jumps can you do? These are just some examples :o)

Have fun this week with time! From Mrs Leyland xx

Happy Wednesday 1st April :o)

This morning I will enjoy reading all of your Tapestry posts and replying, I think I will need to take some more pictures of Moggy for you all to see…she feels very loved thank you for all of your messages!

Today I have attached a new pin onto Mini Mash. Miss Arden has given me some instructions for how to upload some of your lovely work so I will choose a few to share :o) The pin this week is all about your garden! I enjoyed reading your sentences about what you could see out of your window, this week can you visit the garden centre in ‘simple city’. There are a few videos to watch too. I am going to see how many different types of leaves I can find in my garden this week, there is a nice tally chart to fill in on your pin! Enjoy and have fun, remember to keep reading boys and girls :o) Have a smiley day from Mrs Leyland x

Good morning boys and girls happy Thursday 2nd April :o)

There are some new pins on our website now...'Bake with Mrs Marsland' and 'Home School Gallery' Have fun exploring :o)

I hope you have enjoyed your activities so far this week, all the teachers are working hard to add lots of audio books for you to listen to...not long to wait, Mrs Foster has found some of her favourites at home and Miss Durn is looking as well xx

Enjoy some exercise today, we love our yoga sessions on Thursdays, have fun on purple mash too. Have you played the jelly bean game yet with your grown-up? This is a really fun way to get our bodies warm and your heart beating fast! Can you remember what to do when you hear each jelly bean name?

jumping bean…runner bean…chilly bean…broad bean…baked bean…frozen bean…jelly bean…maybe you could think of some new ones?

Have a lovely day from Mrs Leyland xx

Happy Friday 3rd April

Today would have been the last day of Spring Term 2B boys and girls, and it looks like it’s going to be a sunny day :o) Mr Leyland is hopefully going to be busy in the garden today!

I have uploaded a phonics session onto Tapestry for you this morning have fun!

For holiday homework…can you write a book review? Enjoy looking at your favourite book(s) this could be a new Bugclub book or one from home. Can you write a few sentences about it? What was your favourite part and why? Who is your favourite character? What happened at the end? You could make a front cover for your project too. A nice idea grown-ups, make a page with a square at the top for a picture and a few lines underneath, make lots of copies so your child can choose a new sheet each time they want to add a page to their project.

Have fun!!

Remember to enjoy Purple Mash, Bugclub and your activity packs, read and write as much as you can over the next 2 weeks. If you haven’t had chance to yet, have a look at the recommended apps which are really fun, also Busythings and Twinkl are lovely sites to access.  I know lots of grown-ups have enjoyed the free registration to these :o)

I would love to see any holiday activities posted on Tapestry, I will continue to check if there is anything you would like to share, I will also update the Purple Mash pin and keep an eye on your Bugclub libraries.

Boys and girls I hope you have a wonderful Easter break, enjoy yourselves with your family and have a well-earned rest you have all been working very hard. Mr Bettridge will upload some new audio books next week so watch out for those! I will be in touch again on Monday 20th April.

I have had a super response to the documents uploaded onto Tapestry!

With that in mind I have uploaded everything needed for your week of home learning… a suggested timetable, Maths website links and a Talk for Writing booklet for your Literacy activities. I hope you find everything very useful, I will add to the documents folder as the week goes on please don't worry I will let you know when there is anything new. I’ll continue to write on the school class page daily to reference the activities and any additions. This sounds like a lot but you are all doing it already, one day at a time! :o)

So today- have fun reading a new story called ‘Mavis the Magical Cat’ and the ‘Lets Talk’ activity. Of course keep reading as much as you can from your home collection or Bugclub :o) I love todays Maths and Mindfulness activities… after all, what is a Pirate without his trusted telescope! Enjoy!

I hope you have been enjoying the Ebooks on the class page, there are so many stories to listen to and enjoy during snack time, I will certainly be having a biscuit on biscuit Tuesday…can you pay for a snack today using some of your grown- ups coins? Try to find a 20p or maybe use lots of coins to make a total of 20p!

Have a look at the timetabled activities…the pirates need some help to investigate and Mavis has some ladybird words to read! Enjoy and have fun, I’d love to see your activities on Tapestry, remember to upload at least 1 piece a week :o)

From Mrs Leyland x

Hello boys and girls! A very wet day and night… I think today will be similar!

Today is Wednesday 29th April

Have fun with todays planned learning! For your Mavis the Magical Cat activity, ‘Lets Pretend’ you can choose your favourite paragraphs from page 8 or the whole story! We love our small world area and telling stories to a friend using the story mountain vocabulary…

Once upon a time…then…suddenly…next…the end.

I hope your pirate activities are going well and you could find some materials that would be super for a floating boat. I’m looking forward to seeing your designs and your Jolly Rodger! In the workshop we love to design, make and evaluate…can you make a plan of your boat and write some labels for the materials you will use?

I have put a new pin on Mini Mash to explore all about Pirates, if you look on the slide show there is a picture of a Jolly Roger for you to see! Have fun boys and girls, the teachers are missing you very much.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5enDRrWyXaw&list=PLqv4y60m_3_BsDssdzvrCueiho5Tc-1j8&index=1

It is very important to take time to listen to songs and each other. Just to remind you in ‘School Closure- Home Learning’ on our website you will find links to free resources, including 10 things to do indoors! Also on our VLE is a ‘Mental Health’ tab, in here there are ways to support your child and your family during this difficult time.

PLEASE SEE TAPESTRY TODAY FOR LINKS TO PHONICS LESSONS

Friends from the DfE have been busy to help us with our phonics learning. Every day in school we have a phonics lesson, revisiting all of our Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds. We love to segment and blend to read words! I have added the letter for parents in the documents folder on Tapestry, here you will find a link to Youtube to part-take. Lessons are daily and start at 10.00am.

Good Morning all, today is Monday 4th May :o)

We have a very busy week planned, please see Tapestry: Documents for all your resources for your home learning.

To celebrate VE Day and our fantastic efforts as a country, Miss Arden has kindly sent some recipes to make carrot cake, oaty biscuits and homemade lemonade! Enjoy!

You will notice a few changes on our timetable this week, I have included our scheduled YouTube phonics learning, also

Talk Time: My Day.

Each morning when the children arrive at school, we talk about anything and everything we need to! We also share our timetable for the day and the date. I thought it would be nice to start our mornings with a little chat, to let the children know what their day looks like :o)

This week’s Literacy continues with Mavis the Cat and our Maths learning is about The Very Hungry Caterpillar! Today is a fun filled Art day! Enjoy a weekly assembly, this week it’s all about Toys. Today is Thursday 7th May

I hope you had chance to enjoy the sun yesterday, Moggy stayed in the shade I think it was a bit too hot for her! Remember if you are going outside to play, or enjoying your caterpillar picnic in the sun you need to stay safe in the hot weather...what must we do to stay safe in the sunshine? What should we wear or put on our skin? You could draw some pictures and write labels…maybe a sentence for how to keep safe!

Have fun with today’s activities, Ready, Steady, Write and there is lots of exercise today! Remember to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated :o)

From Mrs Leyland xx

Boys and Girls! Tomorrow is Bank Holiday Friday- there are plenty of activities to keep you busy (if you would like to) or you could use it as a finishing off day :o)

Hello Reception Children :o)

Today is Wednesday 13th May.

I have had a very busy few weeks writing all of your reports, it’s been lovely to think about all the things we have done this year and all the fun we have had. :o)

I hope you are enjoying this week’s activities and are keeping busy and smiling. Moggy and I love to spend time in the garden, yesterday I had to go out in the dark because a spider had found it’s way into my kitchen! I tiptoed out and popped him on the grass…he had 4 legs on each side of his body! As I was coming back to the house a fox ran past my door! It was very exciting to see him exploring but I don’t think Moggy was very happy!

Have fun making your own fact file today, it can be about any animal you like. Enjoy researching your animal through Bugclub books, your own collection or browsing the internet with your grown-up. I have added a book called ‘In the Dark’ to everyone’s Bugclub library  :o)

I hope you had a lovely weekend, Mr Leyland and I have been busy doing lots of jobs out and about, I hope you have too! I would love to see how you keep busy, send me some pictures on Tapestry :o)

Have fun with today’s activities, there is a new timetable on Tapestry- I have moved Purple Mash so look out for the new pin!

We are coming the end of our Mavis the Magical Cat activities, don’t worry if you have some catching up to do you can finish off in the holidays. Have fun with your phonics and enjoy ‘Rhyme Time’. Can you find your favourite rhyming story or poem at home? Maybe today you could share it with your grown-up. We love to join in with the ‘Daisy’ stories in school! Can you sing or say a poem that rhymes? I would love to hear it!

Have you ever visited somewhere hot on your travels? Maybe you have been on a plane! Have some talking time today sharing memories and talking about the weather there. You might want to look at some photos or books you have in your house. I remember visiting Cornwall it was lovely and sunny!

I have put a Year 2 book in everyone’s Bug Club: 'My Holiday'

It’s about a girl called Sam and her warm holiday to Spain! Maybe you have visited somewhere very cold?  I had to take a lot of warm clothes in my suitcase when I visited Poland…what would you take in your suitcase?

In my case I will pack sun cream, a swimming costume and my sunglasses. Can you write a sentence and draw a picture about your suitcase?

:o)

I have put lessons 1 and 2 on our timetable for our maths learning today. Lesson 1 is a revisit about patterns. If your child is secure and can recognise and repeat patterns it’s nice to have a quick revisit- or spend some  more time if needed, please make it work for you and your child :o)

Have a lovely day, from Mrs Leyland x

Dear grown-ups, please don't worry about completing the Timetabled Literacy activity and the suggested Literacy activities I post. e.g. the suitcase sentence today. I am aware some children have completed all of their Mavis activities! I would be encouraging everyone to write at least 3 times a week so please enjoy a writing activity when you can... this can be from your Mavis pack or from my morning post. Thank you for all your hard work you are doing a super job! xx

Hello boys and girls!

Happy Tuesday 19th May

I hope you enjoyed your activities yesterday, I have had so many Tapestry pictures I will hopefully get through the rest today!

I am still waiting for our assembly to arrive, so this afternoon have fun with your toys and tell a story using them! In our small world corner we love to be imaginative! Magical tales and adventures are our favourite :o) Can you remember to use some of our story language while you play…

Once upon a time     then     suddenly     next      the end

Have fun with your Phonics and minute activities, how many minutes does it take you to..

Make you bed

Tidy your toys away

Get dressed

Help a grown-up with a special job

You could try a timed activity each day this week!

Grown-ups, in Reception we love to talk about the weather, today make a thunder storm using your bodies as the percussion! Click your fingers, pat you knees, click your tongues and a final clap of thunder, don’t forget the sunshine and a rainbow at the end. I hope you enjoy making a rain dance, it works best with as many people in your house joining in!

I have attached a storm here for you to enjoy! It’s an Italian group on a show that might be familiar! If you listen carefully you can hear lots of animals that you might find in a rainforest…

https://youtu.be/iumvl9CV0kc

Sorry grown-ups it is an Italian channel and no subtitles but the choir really are very special to watch!

Enjoy reading your letter today and your ‘Let’s Talk’ activity. Have fun, see you soon

From Mrs Leyland

Buzz Buzz! Happy World Bee Day everyone!

Today is Wednesday 20th May

I have created a new folder for you on Tapestry called World Bee Day! Here you will find your Timetable of activities and all the resources you will need.

This morning is a literacy morning! Lots of sharing, reading and writing together.

I have written a detailed literacy plan for grown-ups to follow- I hope you find it useful, please don’t feel you need to follow it to the letter! This is very similar to how I would deliver a lesson (it also includes some of the things I would say or ask!)

 :o)

This afternoon is a craft afternoon- there are lots of activities in your new folder that can be completed using the resources I have uploaded... or from your recycling bin! Have a lovely day boys and girls, Bees are one of my favourite things to talk about. Maddie from YouTube (see last slide of Ebook: All About Bees) has lots of bees in her garden and she loves to share how she collects her honey! She has lots of other videos to share on her YouTube channel about her garden and her buzzy friends, if you want explore and learn with a grown-up this afternoon.

From Mrs Leyland zzzzz…zzzzzz….zzzzz

Hello lovely Reception, today is Thursday 21st May

I can see from your photos that you had a lovely World Bee Day! So many bees out and about in your lovely gardens. I have planted some pansies in my pots on my patio… the bees love these because they are so colourful!

Thank you for all your Tapestry posts and kind words. Thank you Grace for celebrating in your beautiful bee dress and to Mia, for following instructions to make a honey sandwich! I think Annabelle must have special nectar in her garden and well done Isaac for tasting honey on toast!  Grown-ups you’re doing a super job!

Have fun this morning with your phonics, you can always revisit you phonics wallets if the pace is a bit quick just remember to have fun! Also your supermarket challenge! I wonder how much a can of spiders and a tin of worms would cost? :o)

Today we are learning about The Good Samaritan.

We are all very kind in our class, have some talking time about similarities and differences. You will need 2 different eggs for this activity but don’t worry if your egg box is empty, if you have 2 different coloured apples they will work or you can use pictures instead.

For your literacy activities today, I have suggested Habitats for Happy Bees! It ties in with your Mavis activity and also gives you time to revisit yesterday’s sentence work. Can you read your sentence back? What makes is super? …capital letter, full stop, finger spaces, neat pre-cursive handwriting.

You could use a teachers pen (any colour pen) and mark your work if you want to change anything…don’t forget your teachers tick, it doesn't matter if it looks a bit messy!

When you have completed your lovely Bee writing, write a sentence about you! How are you a ‘Good Samaritan?’ What makes you a good friend? Grown-ups you could write the tricky word ‘friend’ then share ideas together e.g…

‘I am a good friend, I let (friends name) play with me and we go swimming in the pool, we go in my car.

I am kind I let my big sister play with me.

I like to share.

I talk to (friends name) on Zoom and we sing songs together.

I let (friends name) come to my house for tea.

These sentences have lots of tricky words in them. Children learn to write sentences by spelling words phonetically (having a go) but they need to see the correct spelling too. :o)

Enjoy your activities today, don’t worry if you are still enjoying yesterday’s!

From Mrs Leyland xx

Do you have any pets at home? Can you write a sentence about them…if you don’t have a pet, you could write about your favourite animal today!

‘My cat is called Moggy, she was lonely and came to live with me. I love her.'

I will share more about how Moggy came to live with me over the holidays! I would love to see pictures of you with your pets or your lovely sentence on Tapestry :o)

Hello boys and girls, happy Wednesday 3rd June

I posted our assembly into documents yesterday morning for anyone who wants to share some talking time, it’s all about the lock down! A great time to share thoughts and feelings whilst we have been at home. You will find the poster for this week’s assembly as an observation for all, apologies Tapestry wouldn’t allow this document to upload so it is a photo :o)

I have also uploaded into documents some useful websites! I know a lot of grown-ups are already using a number of these resources. There are lots of different types of learning activities listed here and it’s nice for the children to have a bit of a change :o) Let me know how you get on and if you have any favourites.

From Mrs Leyland xx

Good Morning!

Today is Thursday 4th June. Another wet day ahead, Summer weather can be rain or sun!

When I was a little girl I loved to go outside after the rain had finished, I would put my welly boots on and see what creatures were out and about! I counted as quickly as I could because they were searching for somewhere dry! I counted in 2s so I was quick!

2,4,6,8,10

I also loved to sing a song about the rain…I wonder if you can guess what it was? Have fun singing this morning!

Boys and girls just a reminder, if you find the phonics a little quick it’s fine to pause and revisit. Remember you have your phonics wallets and sound mats, also the recommended websites and apps in this week’s document folder :o)

Have a lovely day learning to count in 2s and helping a grown- up! They have been very busy with our home learning so they will ask you to do a job this morning! I would love to know what it is :o)

Enjoy Page 8 of your ‘Max the Labrador’ booklet, can you remember what happened in the story? Have fun drawing pictures!

I have loved seeing your bird designs boys and girls, you have been so busy! A bird is happiest in a beautiful tree in a nice clean park- you have been super ‘Planeteers!’

Thursday Topic: Today in school the Reception children are looking at pictures of nests (see documents folder) ready to design their own! Before they start their design they will be having some thinking time…

What materials do I need?

How big should it be?

Will my bird fit?

What is the weather like today or in Summer?

Can we make it waterproof?

What materials are waterproof?

How can we find out?

Have fun with today’s activities :o) You might want to test some of your materials in the garden in the puddles, or at the sink!

Hello Reception children!

Happy Friday 5th June :o)

Have a lovely day with today’s activities. I can see lot of children are enjoying their maths with the Snail and the Whale! This morning enjoy your phonics activities and telling an adventure story about a dog! Do you or any of your friends have a dog? Maybe you have walked a dog? My brother has a big dog called Kiba, he is a Dalmatian. Dalmatian dogs can have black or brown spots! Kiba has brown spots I have put a photo of him up on Tapestry for you :o)

My Story

Early one morning Kiba woke up with a big yawn. It was his birthday! First we went to the kitchen to have some breakfast, I had toast with jam and Kiba had special dog biscuits. After that, we went to Royden Park with Kiba's new birthday ball. Suddenly Kiba came running out of the woods, his ball had bounced into the stream! Luckily a friendly dog who was a good swimmer jumped in to get it for Kiba. Kiba was very happy and he shared his ball with his new friend Rex. They lived happily ever after. The end.

Have fun telling your story in pictures today!

Enjoy your crawly adventure and any free choice activities from Tapestry!

Friday Topic: Today the children in Reception call will be finishing off their nests and testing to see if their birds fit! They are going to see how good their nests are by testing them in lots of different types of weather! Wind (blow on your nest!) rain (spray with water!) Can you create any other types of weather conditions? I hope you have fun testing and evaluating your designs!

Have a lovely day boys and girls.

From Mrs Leyland x

Good Morning boys and girls! It seems the sunshine has returned :o)

Have fun finding out where Max and Snowy are today- maybe a grown up could ask you to do some tidying up today…on top, underneath, next to. You will be super helpers following their instructions :o) You could make the instructions part of your 7 challenges (maths today!)

Enjoy making a spell book, the Wizard keeps lots of potions and spells on his magical bookshelf. You could design a front cover, maybe you need to say a spell and wave a magic wand to open your book. Remember Witches and Wizards like rhyming words :o) Have fun this week adding to your spell book with potion ingredients and spells :o) I have a added a 'potion page' to your documents if you would like to use it! Hello boys and girls, today is Tuesday 16th June

Have a lovely day with today’s activities, we are thinking about ‘Refugee Week’ this week.

I have included a PowerPoint in your documents uploaded straight from the education site Twinkl. As this is a resource made by another author I have not changed it (but added a little writing challenge…what would you put in your rucksack?) You may want to rephrase or explain some parts of the presentation (it provides grown-ups with the information they need to discuss and share the life of a refugee). Ali also helps us to learn through his experience too. I hope you find it useful! It is a nice talking opportunity and will help your child to show sensitivity towards others :o)

We have a busy morning! I have popped an activity in before phonics but remember you can move things about! Have fun with your counting using a 10 frame and your phonics learning today.

Max is helping us to make some beautiful rainbow bracelets today, you can watch these on YouTube! This is a great physical activity if you have any ribbons or thread at home. Some other ‘physical’ activities could be learning to tie shoe laces, making a new dog bowl, bone and lead for Max using the playdoh or threading and weaving using beads or buttons…maybe you have some special beads at home!

I hope you enjoyed the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, have fun this afternoon creating your own porridge with lovely toppings! I love to put banana on top of mine and my niece Emilia, loves blueberries on hers...sometimes it makes her porridge purple!

Have a lovely Tuesday boys and girls. If you have a biscuit for biscuit Tuesday remember to make 20p using different coins!

Can you tell your grown-up why it is your favourite?

Use your phonics knowledge to write words which match your spoken sounds, to write about your favourite story this week :o)

Mirror- Belle needs a cure for her dragon pox today! You will need 2 of each item to make 20 things in total. Remember to write your title at the top! I hope you can find the royals in your picture, look out for their crowns! What other creatures can you find?

I have put 2 new pins on Mini Mash for you to explore today, Building and Castles! We have been busy creating so I thought these would be fun to explore!

Max is helping us with a journey stick adventure today. We have been thinking about Refugee Week this week, I’d like you to collect things for your journey stick to tell your own story or adventure. Then think about how Ali felt throughout his story. What would he have collected? Have a look at the nature activities recommended on the Woodland Trust this afternoon :o)

Enjoy some talking time this afternoon, I have uploaded a new PowerPoint to share and celebrate our differences. Again, as this has been authored by an education site I have not edited the Powerpoint. Enjoy talking about capacity with this activity! There is a letter in your documents if you would like to write as Goldilocks to the 3 Bears, I know the children in school have loved doing this!

(P.s. Grown-ups

‘I am Batman, he is strong and he likes to help people.’

Don’t forget to make your sentence super- remember your capital letter, tricky words, comma and full stop at the end. Grown-ups if your child’s hero or costumes is a Pirate or Disney Princess that is super too!

Apologies there has been a technical glitch this morning! Mrs Leyland

Hello! Happy Tuesday 7th July!

Sorry there was a technical hiccup yesterday morning- I can see my message appeared twice now! I am posting this message on Monday night just to check it uploads :o)

I have put some extra resources in your phonics folders, both phase 2 and phase 3- these are activities that can be printed rather than work from the screen I hope you enjoy them. For your literacy learning read together the letter from Bee and help to match the labels, all before your phonics learning have fun!

For today’s maths activities, can you arrange the dinosaurs in different ways? Use the colour squares to make many different patterns and design your own dinosaur using your hand!

I hope you had time to share your caterpillar story yesterday, I have timetabled some talking time together to share thoughts and ideas about September. Some useful questions include:

  1. What are you most excited about?
  2. Who are you looking forward to playing with?
  3. What was your favourite lunch in Reception? Do you think it will be your favourite in Year 1?
  4. What are looking forward to learning?
  5. What will you share with the new children on the playground? (Mrs Leyland will need some help with this!)

These types of questions will remind your child that it is an exciting time! That coming to school in September will be fun :o) Remember boys and girls, I will need your help when the new children come to school- they haven’t been to look around or had a play in the classroom…I know you will all be super Handy Helpers for me :o)

As I mentioned yesterday the whole school are learning all about Brazil! I have put a PowerPoint full of information for you to look at and enjoy. Can you find Brazil on a map or talk about the Ocean (Atlantic) that is around it? What creatures do you think live in this Ocean?

Did you notice that if you mix the 2 primary colours on the Brazil flag they make the colour in the background! (yellow and blue make green!) What other colour mixes do you know?

There is a lot of information on this PowerPoint you can look at a few slides a day!

Have fun and keep reading!

From Mrs Leyland x

Use the vocabulary to write about the animals- there are lots of animals in the Rainforest, remember your finger spaces and capital letters.

It’s important to think about the things that make us happy and share them with a grown-up- you can draw pictures to remind yourself using the worksheet in ‘My Documents’ This is a good opportunity to remind your child about the aspects of school that they enjoy- especially the things that will start up again in September such as being with friends and teachers and playing on the playground.

Have a lovely day and enjoy some reading too.

Please see Tapestry this morning for a special message from all the teachers I have uploaded this message into Documents Summer Term Week 7 if you would like to print your message :o)

For your final maths lesson this week it's the ‘I am Game!’ You will find out how many creatures or characters a number is. Your leggy mission is to find the combination of animals! I hope you enjoy this game and make a book full of your own maths problems to solve! You can take as long as you like for your book!

Enjoy any phonics learning this morning :o) Alphablocks is a good one for today!

Enjoy listening to our song today and join in if you can, we love to sing in school!

I hope the sun stays for our celebration picnic today! Don’t forget to put up your bunting and wear your party hats. Help your grown-up to prepare your picnic lunch, don’t worry if it’s different to your lists :o) Please take lots of photographs I will share them on Tapestry for all to see :o)

Have a lovely afternoon exploring your topic folders or playing fun games, I have loved writing to you every day and seeing your beautiful work on Tapestry. It has been very hard not seeing you all I miss you all so very much. We will be together soon I can’t wait! I am so proud of you all, Miss Collins and Mrs Yardley are so excited to have you in Year 1 and I know Mrs Foster and Mrs Sparke are going to be thrilled to be in Year 1 too!

Have a wonderful summer holiday, you can keep in touch :o)

Lots of love to all my beautiful Reception children and to all the grown-ups who have worked so hard.
