Year 6 Class Page

Welcome to the Year 6 class page. Here we will be sharing lots of the exciting and fun things we get up to in Year 6.

Our PE days are Monday and Tuesday.

Our class teacher is Mrs Sanders.

Our teaching assistants are Miss Skodra and Miss Gibson.

Our cover teacher on Tuesday afternoons is Miss Yardley.

Homework is given out on a Friday and expected back in the following Wednesday. Our spelling test is on Fridays.
Dot Day. The children were asked to design a dot as an expression of their individual style and personality. This emphasised the fact that anybody can be an artist. Here are a few examples from Year 6.
Toasting marshmallows with Kev from Military School Education :)
The children had a great time with Jam the dinosaur, Sam and Joe from Teach Rex. We enjoyed the interactive show with Jam and learning about how a green screen works. Lots of fun!
We have finished our half term with a lovely performance from our School Band during Harvest Assembly. Well done to all our musicians.
Getting ready for Christmas! We have enjoyed 'breakfast with Santa', started to decorate our classroom and loved feeling festive on 'Christmas jumper Day.' We have also been busy creating Christmas crafts to sell next week, to raise money for our Year 6 residential trip and have made cards to send to our friends at Trepassey Care Home.
Year 6 have been learning about how nutrients and water are transported around the body in the blood as part of our 'Humans' topic in Science. They used skittles and warm water to demonstrate the process of diffusion and soaked gummy bears in water overnight. They were amazed to see how much the gummy bears had grown. This demonstrated the process of osmosis (the movement of water from a high to a low density). And of course they got to eat a few sweets along the way!
A great way to start the day: a high energy workout with Freddie Fit! The children also enjoyed a relaxing cool down at the end with an emphasis on the importance of good mental health. Thanks Freddie!
We had so much fun meeting our Reception buddies. Year 6 are looking forward to getting to know their buddies over the course of the year. Lots more meet ups are being planned!
The children (and teachers!) had great fun at the school disco.
Military Style Education putting the children through their paces. Lots of teamwork, den building and fun. The children have been fantastic. More pics coming soon.
The children worked so hard on designing and creating WW2 shelters. We had lots of Anderson shelters and a few communal shelters, including Stephanie and Charlotte's, which was in an underground train station. What impressed me the most was the children's willingness to help one another and share resources. They worked so well together. Well done Year 6!
